Jorge Lawerta

I was born in Valencia in 1983.

My parents always say I was always drawing and closed to colored pencils. There were no iPads, so what better than drawing right? I even remember drawing Christmas card for my kinderarden school at the age of five years.  At ten, during a year living in the United States, I illustrated the school’s yearbook. So, it looked like I I was doing something good.

Over the years I realized I had to find a stable job and a fixed salary. Something that would make me gain money but I like somehow.  So I exchanged the pencils and paper for the mouse and the Illustrator program. I spent four years he working in agencies such as Culdesac ™ (VLC) and GlobalWorks (NYC) as a graphics designer and art director. But, soon, I discovered that this wasn’t what I wanted.

Later in 2011, I decided to place focus on my true vocation illustration.

A cover for the El País supplement “EP3 Temptations” and a poster for the American sports channel ESPN became my first ever commissioned projects. 10 years later, and with clients such as Berluti, Estrella Damm, FIFA, Mahou, Nautalia, Citadelle, Miller Lite, La Quiniela … among many others, I keep on living from illustration and I hope this continues.

I have a simple yet colorful style, using a concise color palette and a straight forward style. I try to transmit the maximum with the minimum.

Hope you like what you see!
